The Talon

The Talon is a campus newspaper which serves Tallahassee Community College students, faculty, administrators and staff as a forum for expression, source of campus information, and educational opportunity.

Students enrolled in JOU2420L publish the newspaper, which is distributed throughout the campus at least five times per semester and posted online. The course offers three hours of college credit a semester, and an opportunity for students to publish work that can be used to secure internships in the communications field.

Each issue of The Talon includes reports of campus issues, opinions, TCC sports, entertainment and restaurant reviews, as well as notices of scheduled events. Readers of The Talon are encouraged to submit opinions and writing samples for publication.

The newspaper lab, located on the second floor of the Science/Math Annex Building, offers students state-of-the-art computers, software and other equipment necessary for developing reporting, editing, photography, and layout design skills.

The Talon staff members are eligible for stipends at the end of each semester. Staff members are also chosen to attend state and national conventions. TCC pays for students' lodging, meals, and traveling expenses.

The Talon has been recognized repeatedly by the Florida Community College Press Association for its outstanding journalism, commentary, photography and graphic design.
