Eagles complete sweep of Gloucester County

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (March 10, 2009) - Jason Postill pitched seven innings of three-hit ball to lead FCCAA No. 10 Tallahassee Community College (22-7) past Gloucester County (N.J.) College, 11-1, on Tuesday afternoon at Eagle Field, to complete a four-game sweep of the Roadrunners.

Postill (3-3) struck out a career-high nine and only walked one batter. Relievers Clayton Wright and Alex Michaels allowed only one hit over the game's final two innings.

TCC scored three runs in its first at-bat against Gloucester County starter C.J. Huyett. Tyler Hibbs drove home the first two runs on a single. He later scored on a double by Thomas Troelstrup.

The Roadrunners' only run of the game came in the third when Adam Soley tagged Postill for a solo home run, his third of the series.

Aided by two Roadrunner errors, TCC put the game away with a seven-run fifth. After Luke Smierciak reached on a miscue by shortstop Joe Perez to lead off the inning, the Eagles followed with four consecutive hits to knock Huyett out of the game, trailing 6-1. TCC eventually sent 12 men to the plate in the fifth to take a 10-1 lead.

The Eagles scored their final run in the eighth. Brett Hammaker led off the inning with a double and later scored on Marcus Grimaldi's ground out to first.

Hibbs went 2-for-4 with three RBI to lead TCC.
