Model United Nations (Model UN)
Tallahassee Community College is proud to be the home of the internationally recognized, award-winning Model United Nations team (Model UN).
Our goal is to expose students to the inner workings of the United Nations in an effort to teach them the processes used in international relations. This valuable experience will show students how nations, states, and non-governmental organizations interact with each other when dealing with a multitude of international issues.
At regional and national Model UN conferences, student delegations will represent the member states of the United Nations, and will facilitate proactive solutions to international problems through research, debate, and written resolutions. As diplomatic representatives, students will have the opportunity to gain skills in communication, negotiation, research methods, and consensus building. These conferences provide the means for a fun, energetic, and educational environment while focusing on real life situations facing the world today.
TCC's Model UN program also continues its tradition of support and awareness of international issues by promoting education about these issues at the high school and middle school level. The annual Tallahassee Southern Model United Nations (TSMUN) Conference, organized by TCC students, serves as a vehicle of community service for TCC's Model UN program by spreading its knowledge and passion for international politics and global issues.
TSMUN is open to all high school and middle school Model UN teams, clubs and student groups within the Southeast region. No experience is necessary, and our recruitment team will provide any assistance needed for training and preparations.
